Here’s a bit of insight into the polishing process for this massive Bishop’s Chair! We used a traditional shellac to enhance the natural colour of the grain. There was a lot of timber that varied in colour that was hand coloured to pull in to the rest of the piece. Once we had enough shellac built up, we refined it with some hand polishing and filled in the grain more. Another piece has just been saved by us! This piece came to our workshop in a very sad state. After being completely neglected and left in flood waters, our customer reached out to see if we would be able to salvage the piece. We had to rebuild the entire base of the cabinet and replace a lot of flaking veneer. A large project was finished just before Christmas for Pymble Ladies’ College. They reached out to us to see if we could restore 13x 3 metre long tables. A sleek, modern finish on these custom built hardwood pieces. Our customer was looking to revamp their Lounge & Dining room areas and decided to restore their existing furniture that they had custom built 10 years ago. We have just finished restoring these gorgeous old Oregon Window Frames. The pair of windows were salvaged from Balmain and then brought to us to be restored. They were covered with layers upon layers of lead based paint which is a restorers nightmare to remove 🤔.
